Mrs Gillian Hirst of Ilkley is
the editor and publisher of
"To Win...With Love"
a collection of letters to and from the "old country".
Copies of the book (324 pages) have been distributed in New Zealand earlier this year, and it can be obtained from large booksellers or directly from the address below.
"To Win ... With Love" gives a detailed, graphic description of how Mrs Hirst's parents settled into a new, and very different lifestyle in New Zealand, having left their native Bradford in June 1928, the day following their wedding. Her father was employed by Tattersfields (Rug Manufacturers) for eight years and her mother was a high class dressmaker.
